Shaffer Family - I was older than Chris but remember him and his siblings well from my days teaching swimming, not that they needed my help given all that talent. The kindness and easy smiles from all of them made a truly lasting impression on me. My wife and I (almost literally) ran into Chris a few years ago on the fitness trail behind the Elm Ave Pool, and it was as if little had changed, except that Chris looked like he could pretty easily pick up my car.
