Going into the final event -- the 400-yard freestyle relay -- of the Section II Boys' Swimming and Diving Championships, Bethlehem High School was behind by three points. But as the anchor of the final relay Christopher came from behind, beat Burnt Hills and won the sectionals championship for Bethlehem. He also won two individual events, the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly (for which he later set a new school record of 51:48 at the state championship). He was named Class A outstanding competitor.
